CPD and Career Pathway Faculty

Guiding and supporting professional and career development

three arrowsAt Oxfordshire County Council, progression and work-based learning is part of our culture.

All of our children’s social workers get the opportunity to learn and develop their skills and experience so they can follow their chosen path. Along with our world class academic partners - Ruskin College Oxford and Oxford Brookes University - our Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and Career Pathway faculty provides our staff with outstanding CPD opportunities.

Whether it’s taking part in our aspiring seniors and managers programme or moving into quality assurance of practice as an IRO and Conference Chair, we will support you.

In addition to formal training, our staff also benefit from:

  • Membership of Research in Practice network to support evidence informed practice. Includes access to webinars, conferences and courses, as well as policy and legal updates
  • The opportunity to network with colleagues from our Adult Social Care teams and learn from high profile external speakers at our internal Social Work Conference
  • External conferences and courses
  • Progression opportunities e.g. coaching skills for senior practitioners
  • Bespoke training to meet the needs of our social workers, past events have included legal skills training
